Funny thing: if you let the Egg Dragoon fight go on long enough, you will eventually run out of platforms to fall to and both Chip and Eggman have unique voice clips for Sonic dying if you get to that point. The thing is, it takes so long to get there that you have to be intentionally TRYING to stall out long enough to reach that outcome.
